Leeds United have made a move for Rennes winger Raphinha and are trying to convince the French side to sell.
That’s according to Goal France, who say that Leeds have gone on the ‘offensive’ for the Brazilian and spent ‘recent hours’ trying to convince the Ligue 1 side into a sale.
Indeed, they’ve already made a first offer for the 23-year-old left winger, but the value of that offer is as yet unknown.
Whether it will be enough to convince Rennes into selling the winger, who had nine goals and five assists in 35 games in all competitions last season, but a deal is believed to be challenging to get done.
A source close to Rennes has told Goal that there is no agreement on the financial side of things as yet, suggesting the first bid wasn’t high enough.
This same source has reportedly claimed that a deal is ‘complex’ because of both economic and administrative reasons, the latter being that he would need a work permit before being allowed to play in England.
However, we checked WyScout, a professional scouting platform, and they list him as having both Brazilian and Italian passports. That sounds like a big plus, but Transfermarkt list him as having Brazilian and Spanish citizenship.
Either Italian or Spanish would do.
