In July, a couple of French reports suggested that Manchester United were interested in Willy Kambwala Ndengushi.

The 16-year-old, is currently on a youth contract at FC Sochaux, and L’Equipe revealed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had ‘recently manifested themselves’ for his services.

RMC Sport’s Loïc Tanzi also reported on the story, taking to Twitter on July 14th to say Manchester United had ‘made a first offer’ for the centre-back, said to be ‘below €1m’.

RMC later reported that had been rejected by Sochaux, a Ligue 2 club, and they were looking for at least double for the defender.

Now there’s some much brighter news. Loic Tanzi is back on the case and says Kambwala is close to signing for Manchester United in a deal worth a little less than €4m.

There will now be a rush on to make sure everything is completed before the window closes on Monday evening. This obviously isn’t a signing which can benefit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer right now, but by all accounts the talent is a big hope for the future.
