Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has seemingly approved the sacking of Werder Bremen manager Alexander Nouri by liking the club’s official Instagram post confirming the decision, which has has quickly been picked up by outlets in Germany.
Wiedwald joined Leeds United this summer when it became apparent he had no future with the Bundesliga side because Nouri wanted Czech keeper Jiří Pavlenka to replace him.
Nouri was yesterday sacked by Werder Bremen following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Augsburg, which left them in the relegation zone.
Since Wiedwald left Werder Bremen he’s refused to answer questions about Nouri, not wanting to stir the pot, but it looks like the Leeds United player has had the last laugh on his former manager.
At the time of his exit, and for some weeks afterwards, the German press made it clear the now Leeds United player was forced out of the club by Nouri, and subsequently pushed towards a move to England.
For a while the contrasting fortunes of Wiedwald and Pavlenka, with the former Werder player doing well at Leeds to begin with and Pavlenka struggling, were a regular topic for the German media.
