Leeds United are one of the clubs in the hunt for Napoli midfielder Eljif Elmas, according to claims from Italy today.
Journalist Ciro Venerato has been live on Radio Goal reporting that the Italian side have been rejecting several bids for the player lately.
With his quotes relayed by Napoli Piu, the reporter claimed that Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, Leeds United and RB Leipzig have all made offers for him, of up to €25m, but all proposals were rejected.
Napoli only spent €16m to sign Elmas in 2019, and would have made a big profit, but the Italian side’s president Aurelio de Laurentiis considers the youngster to have huge potential, and won’t let him go so easily.
Benfica’s interest in Elmas had already been reported by Portuguese TV channel TVI24 this week. Journalist Rui Pedro Braz says there are advanced conversations for his transfer, so in case Leeds are still thinking of signing him in the future, they should be aware of the competition.
Despite having 10 appearances for Napoli this season, Elmas has only played 285 minutes so far, and is still to get enough chances to show his real potential at the club.
