Simone Pepe may need to find a new club this summer following reports he could leave Chiveo Verona. The 32-year-old winger was linked with a move to Leeds United last summer before he joined the Serie A side.
TMW have revealed Pepe is facing an uncertain future because the former Italy international hasn’t yet signed his contract extension with Chievo, despite one being offered to him by the Italian side.
Yesterday Pepe’s representatives held meetings with the leaders of Chievo, but a breakthrough could be reached. Pepe’s agent is now set to hold discussions next week with Chievo, and a decision on the player’s future will be due soon.
Last summer we covered reports that Leeds United were giving serious consideration signing Pepe. At the time the winger’s contract was due to expire with Juventus, and Massimo Cellino was keen to land the veteran on a free transfer.
Despite his age Pepe played 22 league games for Chievo, and could still be an option to Leeds United if needs to find a new club this summer.
