NEC attacker Anthony Limbombe is set to join Club Brugge today despite the Belgian side only recently joining the race for the youngster. The 22-year-old was linked with a number of clubs in recent months, including Leeds United
De Gelderlander have confirmed Limbombe will become a Brugge player today following the events of the past week. The forward refused to train with NEC after they turned down a bid from Brugge.
NEC deemed the €1.7m tabled by the Belgian side way below their valuation of the player, but an agreement has now been made. Limbombe will sign a 4 year deal subject to passing his medical today.
Limbombe had a desire to return to his home country, and wasn’t keen on a move to France with Toulouse following their bid this week.
Leeds United had hopes of signing Limbombe, but it looks like Massimo Cellino was dithering over the deal, and subsequently the Championship side have missed out.
Limbombe was one of the standout players in Holland last season, and was influential for NEC. Leeds United made two attempts to land the payer in the past 12 months, but it seems now they’ve missed out on him.
