Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti is on the verge of agreeing on a deal to sign for Genoa, according to claims in the Italian media. The 24-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, and he’s also been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Calcioternano have reported Genoa are looking to sign the Uruguayan in the summer, and have recently been holding talks with the player.

The Serie A side are looking to bolster their attacking options in the summer after seeing key players leave the club in previous windows, and Avenatti is a prime option.

It’s been claimed unless there are any last-minute issues or interventions then the South American will be become a Genoa player at the end of the season.

In January it was reported Avenatti would see out his contract with Ternana, which will likely lead to a scramble to sign the South American in the summer.

Leeds United could be one of the clubs looking to snap the player up after their previous attempts to sign him. Garry Monk’s club made another approach for Avenatti in the last summer window, but were again unsuccessful.

If Leeds United miss out on Avenatti then this will be the second time in recent times the Championship side have lost out on a player to Genoa. Leeds United held talks with Leonardo Pavoletti when Nicola Salerno was the sporting director, but the forward opted to join Genoa from Sassoulo.
