Greek newspaper Sportday report, via Sdna, that Leeds United are interested in signing AEK goalkeeper Vassilios Barkas in the summer transfer window.
The 26 year old has been linked with a move to Celtic in the past few weeks, and Sdna claim Leeds are also now in the picture for the player.
It’s reported executives at the Championship club, along with Marcelo Bielsa, are impressed by the Greek international and they could make an offer if they seal promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds United’s current first choice is Kiko Casilla, but the Spaniard has struggled with consistency since his move to Elland Road.
Barkas reportedly has admirers from other European clubs such as Basel and Montpellier, but Sportday say the player has set his sights for a move to England as he wants to play in the Premier League.
He’s been a key player for AEK this season, keeping 13 clean sheets in 28 appearances, and his contract with AEK will expire at the end of June 2022.
