Leeds United target Felipe Avenatti has told the Italian media he hasn’t had a contract renewal proposal from his club Ternana. The 23-year-old has just six months left on his contract with the Serie B side, and will be able to speak to other clubs in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement.

Speaking to Ternana News, Avenatti was asked about his situation at Ternana, and whether there have been any developments over his contract extension.

The Uruguayan confirmed he’s yet to hear from the Italian side about any new deal, and for now he’s just concentrating with matters on the pitch.

“I’ve still not received any proposal. Now I just think to play and give my best,” said the South American forward.

Leeds United have been linked with Avenatti for the past 18 months, and they made another attempt to bring him to Elland Road during the summer.

The attacker has been in a prolific form this season for his club, and could be a decent signing for Garry Monk’s team given he will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

There’s also a possibility Leeds United could land the player in January if Ternana decide to sell him on the cheap in the next window.
