Despite currently being without a manager, Leeds United have agreed to sign attacking midfielder Hadi Sacko from Sporting on a permanent basis.
Sacko spent last season on loan at Leeds, and Garry Monk was clearly a fan of the player, but despite the manager leaving, Sacko is set to continue his career at Elland Road.
Portuguese newspaper Record reported on Saturday that Leeds United were trying to do a deal for €1.5m. That was less than their buying clause of €2m. Early on in the talks there was some optimism that Leeds would get their way, but things quickly changed.
On Sunday Record report that, faced with a stubbornness from Sporting, Leeds United have agreed to pay the full €2m for 23 year old Sacko. That triggers the purchase option, so the deal will be straightforward.
All that needs to happen now is for the paperwork and legalities to be sorted out between the three parties involved, but an announcement on the transfer should come quite soon.
