Leeds United fans, let’s take you back to September when you were in the middle of a buying spree as the club looked to bolster their squad for the Premier League season ahead.
A number of players were linked, some more believable than others, among which was Julian Draxler, currently under contract at Paris Saint-Germain, with ‘contact’ reportedly made.
The German midfielder was never a regular under Thomas Tuchel, and it remains to be seen what (most likely) Mauricio Pochettino wants to do with him going forward.
What we do know is that his current contract in the French capital is set to expire at the end of the season, making him available to be approached once the January transfer window kicks off, and among those expected to make an attempt to sign him are Leeds.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain both Angel Di Maria and Draxler could be free agents come June, with the latter ‘liked’ by Marcelo Bielsa’s side and Hertha Berlin.
It’s not much to go on, but they seem convinced the Leeds interest is still there following their attempt to get him in the summer.
Perhaps with a new manager in charge over at Paris Saint-Germain, they might get more luck if he isn’t part of the plans going forward.
