Despite picking up four points from their first two games of the season, Leeds United and their manager Jesse Marsch still aren’t fully happy with the squad at their disposal.
One area of the pitch the American manager would like to improve further is the attack, with a new striker still missing.
That could be solved sooner rather than later, however, with FC Zürich’s Wilfried Gnonto the man seemingly chosen by Leeds to bolster the attack.
The 18-year-old caught the eye last season with the Swiss club by scoring 10 goals and picking up five assists in 35 appearances, which earned him a call up to the national team, where Roberto Mancini has already picked him four times.
He’s scored in one of those games, and it appears Leeds are now wanting to bring him to England, with it said earlier they were working to sign him, wanting to do so in a low-cost fashion.
Well, Gazzetta dello Sport back that up, reporting the Elland Road side are ‘negotiating’ with Zürich.
While it’s believed the agreement with Gnonto himself is ‘essentially there’, the talks with the club are ‘more complex’, as they ‘ask for €8-10m for the permanent transfer’.
There is hope that ‘it can be closed in the next few days’, but Gazzetta do put out a word of caution, as the Swiss side will not let their starlet go easily.
