Olivier Giroud left Arsenal and moved to Chelsea in January 2018 and after he joined the Blues, the striker has only started in seven Premier League matches, which includes one start this season.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, the leaders of Besiktas are looking to bring in an attacker in January as a replacement for Alvaro Negredo, who left the club and joined United Arab Emirates side Al-Nasr this month.
The former Gunners frontman has emerged as a first choice target for the Super Lig side’s management in the mid-season transfer window.
His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2019 and his employer has an option of further extending by a year. The report claims Besiktas will try to convince Giroud and Chelsea to sanction the transfer, but they may have an uphill task in securing his services.
This is because the World Cup winner had earlier admitted that a decision on his future will be taken in April or May, therefore a move away from Chelsea at the start of the next year could be ruled out, for now.
