On Tuesday, Lazio will host Celtic in the Champions League and goalkeeper Ivan Provedel is at risk of missing out the clash against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The 29-year-old has started in every European fixture this season, including the 2-1 win over Rodgers’ side at Celtic Park last month. The Italian couldn’t train on Monday as he was down with fever.
That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by LazioNews24.com, who provide the latest update on his chances of featuring against Celtic later today.
It’s explained that the stopper had a ‘high fever’ and was also struggling with tonsillitis, which meant he missed the double training session yesterday.
Salernitana came from behind to beat Maurizio Sarri’s side in the league at the weekend and Provedel partly feels responsible for the result.
The report says that in order to ‘make up’ for the defeat, the goalkeeper is ready to make a ‘heroic gesture’. It’s stated he wants to ‘grit his teeth, even go on the pitch weakened’, to face Celtic.
According to Il Messaggero, Lazio will make a ‘final decision’ on Provedel in the next few hours, based on his condition. If he’s unavailable, Sarri will start Luigi Sepe against Celtic.
