Despite a weekend update from TuttoMercatoWeb suggesting there was a confidence Felipe Anderson to West Ham could get done soon, Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday are a bit more pessimistic.
The Italian newspaper report the negotiations have hit a bit of a wall, as the Hammers appear reluctant to increase their offer of €32m + €3m, which is around €10m short from Lazio’s €45m demands.
Gazzetta also seem to think the negotiations for Pastore are there just in case the Felipe Anderson deal falls through, seeing the Argentinian playmaker as an alternative to the Brazilian rather than a complementary signing to go alongside him.
Il Tempo are a bit more optimistic, believing talks between the two clubs will restart soon to try and negotiate an agreement, with West Ham currently at €35m + €5m.
Il Messaggero have a different reason as to why talks have stalled, as they claim Claudio Lotito has now upped his demands to €50m, previously within the €40-45m range.
As for Corriere dello Sport, their information is that Lazio want €48m in total, from which they would get only €38m after giving 25% of the fee to Santos, Anderson’s former club.
To counter that, West Ham could up their selling on amount offer from 20% to 25%, meaning the Italian club would get their difference back down the line.
Basically, we’re not that close to an agreement.
