Last week, Liverpool fans had their attention caught by rumours which said the club are ready to bid for the Brazilian forward Luan.
But as revealed by a Sport Witness source, there was not much actually going on, and Grêmio had not been contacted by Liverpool regarding an offer for the player.
And it seems now Luan is close to signing a new contract with the Brazilian side, according to local outlet Zero Hora.
It’s claimed the financial matters are all agreed, which includes salary, bonuses and signing on fee. Only a few details are left, as confirmed by the agent Jair Peixoto.
The representative has also told the outlet there have been no contacts from other clubs for Luan, which actually contradicts what he’s said before, when he claimed talks with Liverpool.
Grêmio are now planning to include a release clause in the player’s contract, which would protect them in case of European interest. It’s not too hard to come to the conclusion that Liverpool rumours have helped Luan get a new contract.
