Earlier on Tuesday, we’ve seen suggestions from the Italian media claiming AS Roma could be interested in signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

It was said the Giallorossi could ‘dream’ of landing the 30-year-old, as they’ve managed to attract other stars in the past.

Now CalcioMercato.it features a story claiming that Roma are indeed interested in signing Lukaku, as they failed to bring Marcos Leonardo from Santos.

It’s said the possibility of signing the Chelsea forward ‘regained strength’, and a ‘last minute-attempt’ is now a possibility.

There had even been rumours saying Roma CEO Lina Souloukou had travelled to England, but CalcioMercato.it had ‘sharp denials’ about that trip, and explicitly state she was ‘not in London’.

It’s claimed that even sources close to Lukaku ‘reduced the rumours’ about a current negotiation, and it seems Roma have the transfer as more of an idea for now.

The Serie A side were in advanced talks to sign Marcos Leonardo, and saw Santos resisting to the attempt, claiming they’re only letting him go in January.

That caught Roma off guard in the final days of the transfer window, and a deal with Chelsea may show up as a great solution.
