Antonio Conte didn’t leave Chelsea on good terms and his desire to sign Marcos Alonso for Inter Milan in January caused problems for the Nerazzurri.
Even before the winter market opened, reports coming out of Italy explained the Blues didn’t want to sell the left-back to the San Siro club.
The 29-year-old has lost prominence under Frank Lampard’s guidance this season and his game has been restricted. He’s made only one appearance (against Hull City in the FA Cup) in 2020.
Calciomercato now claims Conte hasn’t abandoned the idea of signing the left-back for the Serie A side.
It’s once again stated the Europa League winners had no intention of giving any discount to Conte, which is why they ‘raised the wall’ by demanding €30m for Alonso. Inter didn’t want to spend such high figures on the player in January and also have no plans to do so in the future.
Lampard staying at Stamford Bridge beyond this campaign will be a ‘decisive step’ to understand if Alonso will ask for a transfer in the summer or continue at Chelsea.
Conte still hopes to reunite with his former player and Inter have not given up on signing him.
