Throughout the final years of Christian Eriksen’s time at Tottenham Hotspur, the Danish media would cling to any vague rumour about Real Madrid and Barcelona interest and make more of it than it ever really was.
He ended up joining Inter Milan instead in a cut-price deal, and things haven’t gone well at all in Italy so far. Antonio Conte isn’t a fan and a January exit is already being talked up.
Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked, with claims in the Italian media of a potential swap deal involving either Fred or Granit Xhaka. Other than a potential first contact by an intermediary, there doesn’t appear to be much backing those claims up, but they’ve now found their way to Denmark.
Ekstra Bladet have been speaking to Daniele Vitiello, who they describe as a Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, but who most notably works for FCInterNews.
He’s quoted as saying: “There are greater chances that he will leave Inter than that he will stay in Milan. I think he will leave Inter in January. I think it’s a matter of time.
“We know that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in him, but it is too early to say where he can go. Let’s see in the next few weeks.”
This seems to be overstated, in Italy the major publications have mentioned Manchester United and Arsenal, but those claims have been drifting.
Pushing them forward again makes it seem like there’s not really anyone coming forward with interest, so the older weak claims need to be used to hype the situation.
