It’s Champions League Final Day. Hurrah!
That means the Spanish media is absolutely packed with articles relating to both Real Madrid and Liverpool. And it wouldn’t really be fitting if there wasn’t a transfer claim or two thrown in there just for added drama.
AS report that Jurgen Klopp has a transfer ‘dream’ at Madrid, and his name is Marco Asensio. It’s claimed the Liverpool manager would love Asensio at Anfield and has twice acted upon that desire.
The Spanish newspaper say Klopp made an attempt to sign Asensio last summer, submitting an offer of €50m to Madrid. That effort failed and then when Coutinho was leaving for Barcelona, Liverpool are said to have offered a colossal €150m.
Again, it had no success, and AS point out that not only are Real Madrid against a sale of the Spanish youngster, but so is Asensio himself. The footballer has absolutely no intention to swap Madrid for Liverpool or anyone else.
Spain’s sport media love saying Premier League clubs want Asensio, and the whole thing must have felt fitting today.
