Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s proposed transfer to Arsenal is understandably dominating the German football media right now, but there’s other stories on the go as well.

One of those is how well Leon Bailey has been doing recently for Bayer Leverkusen. Joining the German club last year there were initial doubts over the talent and his attitude, but he’s backed himself up recently with some great performances.

With 9 goals and five assists this season, the 20 year old wide man, who can play on either side, is attracting interest from elsewhere. His performance against Hoffenheim at the weekend, as Bayer Leverkusen won 4-1 away from home, is only going to encourage those interested clubs.

Bailey scored a goal and got an assist in a Man of the Match performance and has been named in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week, with Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal also in there.

On Monday Kicker have a small article saying there’s increased interest in Bailey, but only naming Arsenal. The Gunners are said to be eyeing up the signing of Bailey for the summer transfer window, but they’re not going to find it easy.

Kicker make a point of saying Bailey has no release clause in his contract at Bayer Leverkusen and there’s no verbal agreement for a release amount either.

The German club can name their price.
