Ivan Perisic left Inter Milan at the end of last season, having joined the Italian club in 2015.
He’d been repeatedly rumoured to be of interest to Premier League clubs, and it was Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici who finally brought him to English football. Inter hadn’t managed to agree on renewal terms, and the 33-year-old was subsequently able to sign for Tottenham as a free agent.
Perisic has had a mixed time with Spurs so far this season, in and out of Conte’s side, but he looks a good squad addition and has already provided three assists to the London club.
Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League, equal on points with Manchester City and just one point behind leaders Arsenal. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are sixth in Serie A and whilst that isn’t disastrous, and they’re only four points behind top-of-the-table Napoli, there’s been some criticism sent their way.
Antonio Cassano has seamlessly moved from being a controversial footballer to a controversial pundit, always happy to share his opinion on others.
When it comes to Perisic’s move to Tottenham, he insists it shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.
L’Interista quote him as saying: “This team misses Perisic so much, Inter had to keep him at all costs.”
FCInter1908 have a wider version of the quote: “Now they are missing Perisic, the Nerazzurri had to renew his contract at all costs. Dumfries goes back and forth, Barella does not jump the man, Calhanoglu has a great kick, Brozovic in front of the defence. Perisic always made the play, dribbling is fundamental.”
