Despite having one of the best midfields (at least performance wise) last season, if the Italian press are to be believed, Leicester City are looking to completely revamp it.
Whether that means N’Golo Kanté (likely) and Danny Drinkwater (less likely) are moving on to bigger clubs remains to be seen, but Tuttosport on Thursday make it clear a defensive midfielder is something the club are interested in.
The Italian newspaper claim Claudio Ranieri is looking at two Juventus players to potentially bolster his midfield options, with Mario Lemina and Kwadwo Asamoah the lucky picks.
The first of the two has only just signed from Marseille this summer after a year-long loan last season, while Asamoah spent most of last season injured.
However, there is a twist, as Max Allegri, Juventus’ manager, has apparently made it clear to his board he would like to keep both players next season, leading Marotta and co. to look for other squad players to sell in order to bring in some funds.
It’s also worth noting recent reports from England and France suggest Leicester City are very close to signing Nice defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy, and if they do, it would seem strange to also get Lemina or Asamoah.
That is unless they want to use the versatile Ghana international down their left hand side.
