Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the Sassuolo striker Grégoire Defrel, according to claims from Italy.
Calcio Mercato Web claims the Reds sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old at the Serie A side’s game against Genoa last Sunday.
Defrel scored the winning goal in the second half and was also elected the Man of the Match.
The website says that Jurgen Klopp thinks Defrel is a ‘high quality player’ and has enough potential to ‘become an interesting prospect at international level’ and has him in the ‘viewfinder’ for the winter transfer market.
Defrel joined Sassuolo from Cesena in August 2015 for €7m. His first season at the club wasn’t spectacular, and he finished it with seven goals and six assists in thirty five games.
It may look like decent numbers, but the stats from the current season show he can do better than that: it’s been six goals and three assists in only eight games in 2016/17.
The player’s contract runs until 2020.
