Despite claims from France that Paul Pogba is looking to finally renew his contract at Manchester United, rumours about a possible exit will continue to swirl until he actually does.
The midfielder’s deal at Old Trafford expires in the summer, making him one of the more sought out potential free agents on the market, with teams such as Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all reportedly interested.
While the last two could certainly put together a deal, it’s a bit tougher for Juventus, whose funds aren’t exactly stellar these days, and that’s after they got rid of Cristiano Ronaldo’s wages off their books.
Despite this, Italian journalist Filippo Cornacchia urged Pogba to not think too much about the whole thing and simply follow his heart.
“With the same offer? Yes, he would choose Juventus, but I don’t think there will ever be a parity of offers. Pogba will have many, but he knows that the best Pogba was seen in Turin. The relationship with Raiola is excellent, also thanks to the direct line with Nedved”.
It’s fair to say that Pogba’s stats with Juventus are slightly better than what they have been with Manchester United, but not by much.
The midfielder scored 34 goals and assisted another 40 in 178 appearances for the Serie A side, while he has 38 goals and 49 assists in 215 games for the Red Devils.
Either way, at 28 years of age, he will likely start thinking about the back end of his career, and if Manchester United put a lot of money on the plate with a long-term contract, it’s certainly something to consider as long as the club are prepared to meet his ambitions.
