Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne will not be joining Tottenham this summer, despite claims regarding their interest in Italy.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who says he has spoken to Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici about the forward.
Italian newspaper Il Mattino reported today that Tottenham are one of several clubs keeping an eye on Insigne this summer, as he is yet to sign a new contract at Napoli and could therefore leave.
Spurs are believed to have watched him live on numerous occasions and even made polls about a potential transfer.
Venerato, though, says he’s been told by Paratici himself that such a move won’t be happening, even if Insigne were to leave.
“Thirty minutes ago, I had an exchange of messages with Fabio Paratici, now manager of Tottenham. He told me that Insigne will not land in the Premier League,” he told Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Area Napoli.
While Insigne won’t be arriving in London, it appears Ben Davies will not be departing either, at least if Paratici has his way.
The Welshman has been linked with a move to Italy this summer, with it believed Napoli were eyeing him to solve their left-back issues.
A surprise €15m deal could have been on the cards, but it seems Tottenham are looking to block that if they can.
“Ben Davies in Azzurri? Paratici told me that Tottenham want to keep him, but if he leaves, they would only consider offers over 30 million,” added Venerato.
