Following reports at the weekend regarding Manchester United interest in Lens fullback Jonathan Clauss, we now get to see some updates on that chase.
Journalist Andrés Onrubia Ramos, who covers French football for the Spanish media, claims that he’s been able to ‘confirm’ the Red Devils are keen on signing the player this summer.
The same report, however, claims Manchester United haven’t made any offers to Lens for the player. It’s said the only offer the club received was from Marseille, and that was turned down.
The journalist believes ‘the ball is in Manchester United’s court’, as the Red Devils ponder whether to bid for the player or not. Good news for the Old Trafford side is that there’s only one year left on his contract with the French club, so that may be a reason for them to negotiate his exit.
Responding to a follower, Andrés points out that Clauss is more of a wing-back than a full-back. ‘We’ll see with Ten Hag’, he writes, wondering if the player could have such an advanced role at Manchester United as he currently has at Lens.
