Ahead of Manchester United welcoming Sevilla on Tuesday evening in the Champions league, the Premier League club are understandably getting a lot of coverage in the Spanish media.
There’s usually two Manchester United topics which stand out for the Spanish sport press, and those are Jose Mourinho and David de Gea, and the Portuguese coach has given them a chance to combine the two.
Speaking to La Sexta, and covered by Marca and others, Mourinho was asked about De Gea potentially moving to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The answer given was what fans of the Old Trafford club will have wanted to hear most about the potential transfer.
“I see him here,” said Mourinho. “I don’t know what Real Madrid’s intentions are, but if they were (thinking of De Gea) they should think of another player.”
Marca see that as Mourinho ‘closing the door’ to a departure for the goalkeeper, which goes against some of the more outlandish reporting in the Spanish media recently.
For Real Madrid, De Gea looks set to continue to be the one who got away.
