There’s bad news coming from Spain regarding Wolves fullback Jonny Otto.
Forced to leave the pitch in the 51st minute for Spain against Bosnia, the Wolves player was later seen on crutches.
Marca say it’s a ‘disturbing injury’ and whilst further tests will be required on Jonny, not least by his club this week, it’s stated that Real Madrid’s Nacho has missed two months with a similar injury.
In Spain more details are released on injuries than in English football, and the RFEF have published a statement which says Jonny has injured the ‘medial collateral ligament’ of his right knee.
The statement reads: ‘With the exploration in the dressing room and where the internal pain is located, the picture is compatible with a lesion of the medial collateral ligament that, although pending definition, could be a grade II-III.’
Jonny will now have to undergo an MRI scan to see the extent of the injury and to rule out any other problems. The RFEF say they’ve sent all the medical informations to Wolves already.
A grade three tear would be severe, a complete tear of the ligament, whereas grade two is a partial tear.
