On Thursday, there was a strong warning aimed at Tottenham and any other interested party from Inter, with Corriere dello Sport in Italy claiming the Serie A outfit were favourites to land Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen.
This was the second time this had happened, but, and perhaps rightly so, the Danish defender’s side aren’t ready to just hand him over, and they are travelling around seeing what clubs have to offer for their young star.
According to Il Secolo XIX, relayed by FC Inter News, Sampdoria’s director of football, Carlo Osti, and a lawyer, Antonio Romei, have taken a flight to London where they are set to meet representatives from both Tottenham and Arsenal.
The newspaper claims both Tottenham and Arsenal sent scouts on November 4th to watch the game against Torino, which Sampdoria ended up losing 4-1.
In all likelihood, this trip by Sampdoria will simply be to see how advanced the interest is and hear out the two clubs about what they plan to do going forward.
This is certainly a step forward and good news for Tottenham and their neighbours Arsenal.
As for Inter in all this, Il Secolo make it clear nothing is done between the two sides, despite the fact they are ‘strongly interested’ and ‘in pole in Serie A’.
That doesn’t mean they’re ahead overall, though…
