The front page of Tuesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport says there’s a ‘Volcano’ erupting at Inter Milan as the club face a difficult few days ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
A big part of that is Ivan Perisic and his desire to leave the Serie A side. Whilst Arsenal are pushed forward as a destination, the Italian newspaper says that, despite claims elsewhere of otherwise, there has been no official offer submitted to Inter.
Even for a loan.
That may not mean a great deal, Arsenal could be working with Perisic’s agent Fahli Ramadani, as has been reported before, and trying to build a deal they feel could please the Milan club.
There’s a suggestion Perisic’s sudden outright desire to leave could be related to Mauro Icardi’s upcoming renewal, and an annoyance from the Croatian that he’s not valued enough.
Gazzetta say that Arsenal are ‘playing on several tables’ (a gambling reference) and state the Gunners are, just like Inter, considering Yannick Carrasco, who fancies a return from China.
Interestingly, Perisic is said to be ‘annoyed’ by Sven Mislintat leaving Arsenal. It’s explained the scout spotted the player at Club Bruge, before the move to Borussia Dortmund, and has recommended him to Unai Emery.
Gazzetta aren’t sure whether Arsenal’s ‘shyness’ about coming forward with an offer is more related to bargaining or dithering.
Finishing off, they point out it would be a ‘big joke’ for Perisic if Arsenal went for Carrasco instead.
