Earlier this month, Christian Eriksen revealed it ‘hurt’ him to inform Brentford manager Thomas Frank about his decision to join Manchester United in the last window.
The Red Devils were successful in overcoming competition from the Bees and others as they took the midfielder on a free transfer.
The Denmark international is currently with the national team, preparing for the UEFA Nations League games this month. It gave an opportunity for the Danish press to speak to him, and Tipsbladet have relayed the star’s comments.
Apart from Manchester United and Brentford, Eriksen received offers from other clubs. He says the early approach made by Erik ten Hag’s side convinced him to pick them over the Bees and others.
Eriksen also discussed his experience of returning to the Brentford Community Stadium last month. After a 2-1 loss against Brighton & Hove Albion, United suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford. He wasn’t pleased with the reaction of the home supporters.
“It was a bit of a mix. They were very happy after they were about to win 4-0, and then people jumped on the wave. It was easy to boo. It’s not something I remember as anything good. You can turn it as you please. One way or the other. When people choose to boo, it sounds one way no matter what,” the United player said.
The former Tottenham Hotspur’s man was partly to be blamed for the goals conceded by Erik ten Hag’s men in London. After suffering two defeats, Manchester United went on to win four league games, which included victories over Liverpool and Arsenal.
“There have been no personal mistakes like against Brentford, where David and I made mistakes and then we were 2-0 behind after five minutes. Now we have come back on top with some great 1-0 victories, which have been good for us,” Eriksen stressed.
