Italian newspaper Tuttosport today has some updates on Napoli’s plans for the transfer window.
They claim the Serie A side are looking to offload some players, and one of them is left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.
The 28-year-old needs more minutes to prove he’s recovered from the serious injury he had a couple of years ago, and a new club would be the perfect place for that.
And according to Tuttosport, his destination could be Wolverhampton Wanderers. The newspaper says that Ghoulam’s agent Jorge Mendes is looking for a place for him in the Premier League, and Nuno Espírito Santo’s side would be the one.
Tuttosport doesn’t say how much Napoli are demanding for Ghoulam’s departure, and perhaps that’s not their biggest worry. The player makes €3.5m net per season in a contract which runs until 2022, so getting rid of his salary would be great news for the club.
Ghoulam has been linked to several Premier League sides in the past few years, and this is probably the first time that Wolves’ interest is reported. So perhaps it’s really Jorge Mendes who would try to make this move happen, instead of a genuine interest from the Molineux side.
