According to Corriere Dello Sport this Wednesday, the Italian club have been watching the player as they look for reinforcements for their midfield.
The newspaper’s article actually mentions a few names who Roma could be considering to sign soon. There aren’t any further details on the interest on Obiang despite the fact that they’ve been scouting him.
Obiang left Sampdoria to join West Ham in 2015 for €6m. He didn’t have a brilliant first season for the club, but things have changed, at least a little.
With 13 appearances this season, it would be unlikely that a Italian club could just show up and take him for a low price.
His time at Sampdoria would be an argument for Roma to convince him to return to Italy, but we’re still to see the player admitting that this would be his desire.
