As every father has a right to, Patrick Kluivert has been trying to advise his son, Justin, about where he should go once his time at Ajax comes to an end.

The former Barcelona striker made it very clear he would love to see him wear the Catalan side’s jersey in the future, but admitted the choice as ultimately his, which means he could end up elsewhere, like Manchester United.

The rumours of the Red Devils’ interest in the 18-year-old have been around for some time, fuelled by José Mourinho’s brief public chat with the player following his side’s Europa League win over Ajax, as well as the fact his agent is a certain Mino Raiola, who has recently enjoyed sending his players to Old Trafford.

Fast forward to this weekend, and Il Messaggero report that Monchi, AS Roma’s director of football, has a plan for the Serie A side, and that’s to rejuvenate the squad by bringing in younger players.

Among those cited happens to be Justin Kluivert, but the problem here is that Manchester United also want him, with José Mourinho’s side labelled as being ‘in pole’ to acquire his services.

Furthermore, they make it clear that if the Portuguese manager really set his mind to signing the Ajax starlet, then ‘no Italian club would be able to financially stop him’.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the summer, as a huge bidding war could break out to acquire the Dutchman’s services.

He’s going to be expensive, that’s for sure.
