BOOM. LAST MINUTE. We really love the Italian media towards the end of the transfer window.
One of the big and recurring transfer stories throughout the season, the idea of Juan Cuadrado returning to Juventus for a second loan spell quietly did a 180 as the Paul Pogba saga dragged on.
With that now over, the Serie A champions are focusing on a late splurge, and the Italian club’s board have performed another U-turn.
Two 180s = a 360 (we’re good at maths), meaning we’re back to where we started.
The Chelsea winger hasn’t had the best of time in England, and a successful loan spell at Juventus last term suggested a transfer back to Italy would be best for everyone, and Max Allegri is thinking about it.
According to Carlo Laudisa, a journalist for Gazzetta dello Sport, publishing on their sister website GazzaMercato, these are ‘decisive hours’ in getting a possible deal done.
The most likely outcome will be another temporary deal, but there’s also the chance Chelsea could ask for a clause forcing Juventus to buy him permanently next season.
After all, if Chelsea aren’t going to play him, they might as well recoup as much of the original investment (£26.4m from Fiorentina) as possible.
We don’t normally cover GazzaMercato, as some of their stories appear to be a bit far fetched, but when it comes straight from the mouth (or fingertips) of one of Gazzetta’s better Juventus journalists, we can’t ignore it.
