The nice thing of reading newspapers from all over the world is learning that, despite the different languages, each local press has its own way of writing news. And sometimes it turns out to be quite poetic.
The rumour linking Justin Kluivert to Everton in Wednesday’s Tuttosport could be just a regular story, but the newspaper makes it a masterpiece right in the first paragraph.
“La vendetta è un piatto che va consumato freddo, ma che forse Mino Raiola preferisce caldo fumante.”
You don’t need to speak Italian to get the saucy tone from that sentence. It says revenge is best served cold, but perhaps Mino Raiola prefers it smoking hot. And it obviously loses all the fun when translated to English.
Anyway, what Tuttosport has to say is that now that Mino Raiola is Kluivert’s representative, he should use it against Manchester United by opting to move the kid to Everton.
They explain how Raiola’s relationship with the Red Devils has gone down, as a few months ago, he had four clients at the club (Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan), and now only one of them is left, which is the Frenchman, since Lukaku recently dumped him.
It must be noted here that we’re not sure Lukaku really dumped him. There’s been claims he did, but the Belgian media believe his new arrangement with a US company is purely about marketing, and that makes some sense.
All this focus on the hate for Manchester United means that the newspaper doesn’t have much to say about Everton’s chase, or how advanced the negotiations are. But for once, it seems the Toffees can rest assured that they will have an advantage over Man United in a transfer race.
At least according to Tuttosport.
