Sunderland’s Liam Bridcutt is hopeful he can move to Leeds United on a permanent basis following his loan spell with the club last season. The Scotland international looks surplus to requirements with Sunderland, and may need to move on this summer.
The Yorkshire Evening Post have reported today that Bridcutt wants to return to Leeds United for next season, and the 27-year-old is hopeful the move will happen.
Leeds United made it one of their prime objectives to bring in Bridcutt this transfer window after he impressed for the club last season, but they must meet Sunderland’s valuation of the player, and also get close to matching his current salary.
The Premier league side are holding out for £1.5m for the defensive midfielder, who commands a weekly wage of £26k at Sunderland.
Bridcutt joined Leeds Unite don loan last season, and went on play 24 league games for the Championship side. He’s performances for Leeds United earned him a re-call to the Scotland squad, and he was involved in the 1-0 win over Denmark in March.
