Emerging on Monday in England as a possibility, the idea of Lille buying Middlesbrough’s Adama Traoré has made it to the French media, who decided to double check with the player’s representatives.
FootMercato took it upon themselves to reach out and ask the former Barcelona starlet’s agent if Lille were indeed interested, and the answer was a ‘yes’.
Struggling since their emphatic win against Nantes on the first day of the season, Marcelo Bielsa’s new side appear to have targeted the Middlesbrough forward to bolster their manager’s attacking options.
Completing more dribbles than any other player last season, the 21-year-old could bring much needed speed and flair to Lille’s attack, and his camp aren’t insensitive to the interest.
FootMercato quote them as explaining the Ligue 1 side’s new project ‘could be interesting’ for their client, although Bielsa might have to prove convincing enough to pip a few Premier League clubs who are said to be lingering around.
Used sporadically last season, Traoré could be once again facing a bit part role, this time under Garry Monk, coming off the bench twice in four games so far this season.
