On Thursday, journalist Agustin Sileo explained that Newcastle United are moving strongly to sign CA Vélez Sarsfield’s Máximo Perrone.
He also stated the Argentine club will begin negotiations with the Magpies over a deal for the 19-year-old, for a fee higher than his release clause.
The midfielder’s deal runs down in December 2023, and it has a release clause of €8m. Sileo pointed out yesterday that even the player’s agent doesn’t want this to be triggered.
Friday’s edition of Olé has a report on the Argentina U20 international, which is titled: ‘Interest is maximum’. Within the report, it’s said he is being followed by Newcastle and this seems to make his continuity at Vélez complicated.
Wolverhampton Wanderers asked for information about Perrone in the summer.
Newcastle are now in for him and are preparing a proposal to secure his services. Vélez want to retain him, but Olé say ‘it will not be easy’ for the South American club.
Olé’s report backs up Agustin Sileo’s claim from Thursday. It needs to be seen whether a deal can be agreed between Newcastle and Vélez for Perrone.
