Burnley attacker Matej Vydra has been linked with a move to Russia in recent weeks and his agent Ondrej Chovanec has spoken to Russian website Sport 24 about the latest developments regarding his client’s future.
Chovanec has confirmed CSKA Moscow are interested in signing the Czech striker and that the forward would be eager to move to Moscow: “There is interest for Matej from two Moscow clubs. Can he move there? Of course, it’s a possibility. If one of the interested parties reach an agreement with Burnley, then he will come to Russia because he wants to show his qualities.
“The only issue at the moment is that Burnley are short of strikers. If that wasn’t the case, they were willing to let him leave.”
The 27 year old, who joined Burnley from Derby County in 2018, has only made six Premier League appearances, with all of them coming from the bench, scoring one goal.
During the last transfer window, the Czech international was linked with a move to Rangers and Aston Villa, but a transfer away from Turf Moor never materialised.
With Euro 2020 just around the corner Vydra will want to get regular football in order get picked for his country and a transfer to the Russian Super League looks to be an option. The window there doesn’t close until February 21st.
His contract with Burnley will expire at the end of June 2021.
