Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez will be sold this summer if Newcastle United make a bid for him after his impressive campaign.
That’s according to Dick Advocaat, who says Feyenoord’s need for money means the Mexican will be moved on if an offer is deemed good enough.
Gimenez has been impressing for Feyenoord this season, bagging 18 goals in 37 games for the Dutch side to date.
The 21-year-old is very enjoying the best season of his career to date and that has earned him plenty of attention as a result.
Several Premier League clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on his performances, including Newcastle United, with an initial report stating that they were ‘interested’ in him and a follow up to that stating his performances had ‘aroused’ their attention.
Whether Feyenoord would want to sell was not mentioned, particularly as they look set to win the Eredivisie title and compete in Europe next season.
Advocaat, though, insists that if someone like Newcastle come calling with a serious bid, then the Dutch side won’t be able to resist.
“Feyenoord obviously need money as well, so if they can sell him well, he will really go out,” FR Fans report him saying.
“Anyone who knows about football could see that this was a very good player. He is just really going to be a top player,” added fellow panellist Wim Kieft.
