Liverpool are yet to contact Colombian centre-back Kevin Mantilla or Talleres de Córdoba about a move, despite reports of their interest.

That’s according to the Colombian edition of AS, who say so far, the Reds are only following up their previous interest in the defender.

Mantilla was first linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this year, when it was explained they had been following the 20-year-old but were facing Brexit related work visa issues in any potential move.

There was no mention of Mantilla or his name from that point onwards until today, when a report in Italy again named Liverpool as one of the interested parties among several in Europe.

That report indicated they were ready to pay what was needed to secure Mantilla’s signature and that there was a growing belief he was ready for the move to Anfield.

AS now follow that up, though, and say that at the moment there ‘not been any type of contact’ by Liverpool with Talleres de Córdoba or the player’s entourage about a move.

As far as the newspaper is concerned, Liverpool are only committing a ‘follow-up of the player’ at this moment in time and nothing more than that.

Mantilla appears to be calm about his future too as he is currently enjoying his vacations before starting pre-season with a view to the Argentine Professional League starting and the Conmebol Libertadores Cup.

Work with his current team is scheduled to begin in the first week of January and for now a move to Liverpool is not picking up pace.
