Real Madrid are in the market for a central defender, and that’s filled AS with excitement.
In their Saturday edition, the Spanish newspaper go over several options, and the man first up is Kalidou Koulibaly. The Napoli defender has been linked with a big move for years, and AS back up the long standing claim of Manchester United offering more than €100m for the player.
Such an amount hasn’t been considered enough by Napoli, and despite the insistence it’s got to be questionable whether Manchester United would genuinely be happy to part with an amount like that for the defender.
He turns 30-years-of-age in June, so the chance of retaining transfer value is dropping.
AS believe Napoli will be minded to reduce the price, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
In addition, the ‘raging pandemic crisis’ sees the likelihood of a huge fee drop, and would have an impact on the Serie A club’s stance.
This still may not be enough for Manchester United, Real Madrid or any other club, and it could be that Koulibaly has seen his big chance slip away.
