Cutting the loan deal with Aston Villa short when Steven Gerrard took over, Manchester United sent Axel Tuanzebe straight back out to Napoli for a six month loan.
It was meant to be an opportunity for him to get game time at a big club and try something new, but the England U21 international hasn’t exactly been given a chance.
That’s because a back injury has kept him out of action for a chunk of it, while Luciano Spalletti has preferred other members of his squad for his teams.
The Manchester United loanee has managed just two appearances for the Serie A side since joining, with just 10 minutes in the league.
This is why Corriere dello Sport make it clear it’s ‘inevitable’ that the Italian club will need a new centre-back in the summer, as there is the exit of the 24-year-old to take into account.
This means the player will return to Manchester United, where Erik ten Hag will have to evaluate him and decide what he wants to do with him.
Tuanzebe is contracted to the Old Trafford until 2023, so if the Dutchman doesn’t want anything to do with him, it is likely that he will be sold this summer.
