Clement Lenglet’s move to Tottenham Hotspur is getting closer to happening, reports Catalan newspaper Sport on Monday.
Spurs, Barcelona and the player’s camp are set to have a meeting on Monday to drag everything to the finish line. According to the claims, the move is ‘imminent’ and the Frenchman simply needs to give the ‘green light’ to the move.
Reports at the end of last week and over the weekend made it clear Lenglet had agreed to the move in principle, so the final approval must be related to the specific terms of the transfer.
Barcelona want to free themselves of all of the player’s wages, passing them over to Tottenham as part of a loan agreement, and Sport say if nothing ‘strange’ happens then the transfer can be made official in ‘the next few hours’.
The loan will be for a single season, and it’s thought the Premier League club will have a purchase option of more than €10m.
Sport believe Lenglet will be an ‘undisputed starter’ at Tottenham, and it’s thought that’s how Antonio Conte has convinced him to join the club.
