This morning, Spanish outlet Marca claimed Atletico Madrid have in hands a ‘irrefutable proposal’ from Newcastle United for the transfer of Kieran Trippier.
It was said that the Magpies have put €30m on the table to sign the fullback, and the Colchoneros ‘will decide’ soon whether to let him leave in January or not.
Now it turns out that Marca sound very confident that Trippier is leaving Spain, because in another story today, they already talk about Diego Simeone’s plans to replace him.
They say the player’s move is getting ‘closer’, as if ‘nothing goes wrong’, he’s moving to Newcastle. So it’s all about Atletico finding a new right-back following his ‘imminent departure’ from the club.
Regarding Trippier’s personal wish, it’s claimed that the 31-year-old ‘considers he needs to accept’ the offer made by Newcastle, despite Simeone’s efforts to keep him at Atletico.
In Marca’s previous story, it was claimed the Magpies are offering the player a salary of €8m per season, so that should certainly help him in his decision.
