Fábio Vieira struggled to enjoy regular game time at Arsenal after he arrival from FC Porto in June 2022. The Gunners let him return to the Portuguese club on a loan deal in the summer window.

The attacking midfielder missed the start of the season due to an injury. Last month, FC Porto manager Vítor Bruno said he wasn’t aware when the Arsenal loanee would return to the pitch.

Last week, O Jogo reported there was still no time frame on the 24-year-old will regain full fitness. At the weekend, Vieira came off the bench in the Dragons’ 4-0 win over Arouca.

He’s been speaking to the Portuguese media, to share his joy over returning to the pitch, after his struggles at Arsenal. O Jogo have relayed his comments.

“I’m very happy, to be honest. I came back with the aim of being able to have minutes, to be able to play. I feel very good here, this is my home, with the Porto fans. This is where it all started and now I just enjoy and be happy. I will work as hard as I can,” he said.

The Arsenal owned player replaced Alan Varela against Arouca in the 69th minute and was well received by home supporters at the Estádio do Dragão.

“It’s a mutual affection, from them to me and from me to them. It always has been, always. This is the club where I started it all. I’m very happy to have their support. And they can count on us, because this season we’re going to do everything we can to bring them joy,” Vieira explained.

The website states Vieira should be in contention to face Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.
