Leeds United youngster Crysencio Summerville has shared his delight at the progress he is making at Elland Road after a stuttering start due to COVID-19.
The youngster joined Leeds from Feyenoord’s U19s set up last summer and spent last year developing in Premier League 2, with 12 appearances to his name, as well as two in the EFL Trophy.
He clearly made an impression and was promoted to the senior Leeds team this summer, handed his Premier League debut by Marcelo Bielsa in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United back in September.
He’s made three more Premier League appearances since then, as well as starting the first four games of the season sat on the bench.
There’s also been appearances in the EFL Cup, with him starting the win over Fulham in the third round before a 20-minute cameo in the recent defeat to Arsenal in the fourth round.
This is all big progress for the 19-year-old, who has detailed why he joined Leeds in the first place and shared his delight at how things are now going.
“My parents, me and my management don’t look at the short term,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying to Algemeen Dagblad.
“Leeds United and some other clubs were on the doorstep. We started talking, and my agents left the choice to me.
“And suddenly, I knew. I wanted to go to Leeds. There’s really a plan here with the young guys.
“In the cup, I was in the starting line-up against Fulham, and I came on against Arsenal. And believe me, that level is no joke.
“Afterwards you’re just panting in the dressing room. The tempo is so high and it’s really difficult to play as a substitute. These are the steps I want to take.
“I had to get used to my new environment, Corona made it even harder, but now I feel I am really chasing my dream.”
