Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave Juventus for Manchester United late into the transfer window, there have been a few snipes from members of the Serie A side.

Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini kicked things off, with the latter bemoaning the Portuguese superstar’s decision to exit at the last minute, and now Andrea Agnelli, their chairman, has joined in.

Speaking at the club’s shareholders’ meeting, the club chief was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo and his return to Manchester United.

While he was full of praise for the forward, he couldn’t help but have a little dig at the end, perhaps trying to make it sound like they are now better off without him.

He said, relayed by Calciomercato: “It was an honour and a pleasure to have him. We can only applaud him for what he did on the field and thank him for how much he made us rejoice. The one sin is to have had him with a year and a half of an empty stadium.

“Alvaro Morata is right, though, it is the Juventus shirt that requires responsibility. Juventus is bigger than everyone, than anyone who has participated. Juventus comes before anyone”.

During his time in Turin, the 36-year-old scored 101 goals and assisted another 22 in 134 appearances, helping them win two Serie A titles in the process, as well as some other trophies.

What they didn’t manage in his time there, however, was to win the Champions League.

Since returning to Manchester United, Ronaldo has scored six goals in 10 appearances, including one in every game in Europe so far.
